MUNCIE - The Patriots bounced back from a loss to one sectional rival Monday to defeat another Thursday.
Jay County High School's girls swim team rebounded from its defeat against South Adams and pulled out a 98-87 victory over the host Delta Eagles. The boys team lost, 106-77.
Mary Hudson had two wins to lead the JCHS girls, who jumped back above .500 for the year at 5-4.
Hudson came up with a big victory in her first race of the night, edging Katie Tomlin for first place in the 200-yard freestyle by just 14 hundredths of a second in 2 minutes, 10.62 seconds. She also won the 100 freestyle at 59.62.
The sophomore teamed with Eme Miller, Michelle Landfair and Jocelyn Mann for a winning time of 4:09.29 in the 400 freestyle relay.
Neal Fennig was the only other double winner of the night for the Patriots as he scored a couple of decisive wins. His first-place efforts came in times of 2:05.72 in the 200 freestyle and 5:37.48 in the 500 freestyle.
Landfair added a victory for the girls in the 100 butterfly in 1:09.62, and Miller took the 100 backstroke at 1:11.88 in front of teammate Martyna Gajewska. Megan Taylor picked up another diving victory as she totaled 182.79 points.
The only other win for the JCHS boys team, which is now 0-6, came from Jared Valetine with a time of 1:13.46 in the 100 breaststroke.[[In-content Ad]]
