JC High Rollers top South Adams (01/26/04)

Local Roundup

The Jay County High Rollers bowling team cruised to a 16-4 victory over South Adams Saturday.

Jay County (6-4) needed a big effort in the final frame of the first game to be able to take the lead. Derek Powell answered the challenge, pulling out the team game for the High Rollers 967-957 with a couple of strikes in the final frame.

Powell’s heroics gave Jay County an 8-2 lead heading into the second game, which it dominated for the final margin.

Jesse Shawver had the high game and series on the day with a 234 and 424 respectively. Powell’s 220 was the top score of the first game as he finished with a 409 series.

The High Rollers’ next meet is Wednesday against Norwell at Decatur’s Villa Lanes.

Patriots places third

The Jay County wrestling team finished third in the Olympic Athletic Conference meet at Anderson Highland Saturday. Bill Spahr won the lone conference title for the Patriots.
