JCHS/SAHS boys tennis
MARION - The Patriots and Starfires will each get an extra day off.
In the boys tennis state tournament draw Monday, both Jay County and South Adams picked up opening-round byes.
JCHS will play Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the Marion sectional against the winner of Thursday's opening-round match between Mississinewa and Madison-Grant. SAHS will play in the Norwell sectional Friday at 4:30 p.m. against the winner of Thursday's first-round match between Huntington North and Bellmont.
In the other semifinal match at Marion Friday, the host Giants will take on Blackford. The championship match will be Saturday at 10 a.m. with the winner advancing to the Peru regional.
The Patriots (9-5), who have won three consecutive sectional titles, lost their season opener 5-0 to Marion.
