JC summer camps to begin next week (06/02/04)


Jay County High School’s series of summer sports camps will begin next week with the boys basketball camp for third through eighth graders.

The boys basketball camp will run Tuesday through Friday with third and fourth graders camping from 10 to 11:30 a.m., fifth and sixth graders from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and seventh and eighth graders from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

The cost of the camp is $25, which includes a T-shirt.

The baseball camp for first through sixth graders will be June 14 through 17.

There will be three sessions, with first and second graders from 8:30 to 10 a.m., third and fourth graders from 10:30 a.m. to noon and fifth through sixth graders from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

The cost of the camp is $25, which includes a T-shirt. The deadline to register is Monday.

The boys soccer team will host a soccer camp in conjunction with Challenger Sports British Soccer.

The camp will be from June 28 to July 1, with one session for third through eighth graders and one for ninth through 12th graders. The camp for third through eighth graders will cost $87 and will last for three hours each day, and the camp for ninth through 12th graders will cost $127 and last for six hours each day.

Campers will also receive a soccer jersey and a soccer ball, as well as an individual evaluation. The deadline to register is Monday.

The girls basketball camp for third through eighth graders will be June 21 through 24.

The session for students who were in third through fifth grade this year will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m., and the session for sixth through eighth graders will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

The cost of the camp is $25, which includes a T-shirt.

The gymnastics clinic for kindergarten through ninth graders will be June 17 through 19.

The cost of the camp is $20 for those in kindergarten through third grade, and $25 for fourth through ninth graders. A T-shirt is included in the cost.

Camps will be run by JCHS coaches Craig Teagle, Lea Selvey, Alan Bailey, Kirk Comer and Kristin Rees and their staffs and athletes.

Registration forms for each camp are available at all Jay County schools. Forms for the basketball camps are also available at Kessler’s Sport Shop in Portland.
