HARTFORD CITY - Six Jay County swimmers picked up four wins apiece Monday in a couple of victories over Blackford.
The Jay County middle school swim team dominated, with the girls winning every event for a 133-38 victory. The boys team added a 103-77 triumph.
Laura Bowen, Michael Long, Caitlin Mark and Marissa Murrell led the girls, team for a pair of relay wins and each picking up victories in two individual events. Lucas Holcomb, Wiley Young and Caleb Hummel each were in on four wins for the boys.
The quartet of girls combined to win the meet-opening 200-yard medley relay in 2-minutes, 26.58 seconds and the meet-ending 300 freestyle relay with a time of 3:33.20.
Murrell's individual wins came in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle in times of 2:48.86 and 1:16.30 repsectively.
Long won the 100 individual medley with a time of 1:19.65 and the 400 freestyle in 5:50.17.
Bowen earned her victories in the 50 freestyle at 30.42 and the 100 backstroke in 1:23.20. Mark was first in the 50 butterfly in 33.84 and the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:25.97.
Holcomb, Young, Hummel and Alex Sutton teamed for wins in 2:20.02 in the 200 medley relay and 3:39.59 in the 300 freestyle relay.
Hummel took the top slot in the 200 freestyle in 2:33.72 and the 100 freestyle in 1:09.55. Young took the 100 individual medley at 1:14.74, and he also took the 400 freestyle at 5:26.86.
Holcomb was best in the 50 butterfly in 32.81 and the 100 backstroke in 1:23.50, and Sutton added a victory in the 100 breaststroke in 1:33.23.
Katie Simmons, Kelsey Powell, Sammi Compton and Rylee Clemmons finished off the girls sweep with a win in 2:24.50 in the 200 freestyle relay.[[In-content Ad]]
