JCCS names its donors

Jay County Cancer Society recently announced its donors for the months of July, August and September.

July: Giving gifts were Asbury United Methodist Church small groups, Nancy Pearson, Edyth Wood and Jay Randolph Developmental Services. Giving in memory of Neal and Maddie Fennig were Robert and Rosalie Clamme; giving in memory of Mark Quakenbush was Charles Noble of Key Palace Theater; giving in memory of Eleanor Purcell was Redkey Town and Country Homemakers; giving in memory of Pat Jellison were Pam Best and Brenda Gillum, Jerry and Liz Clutter, Floyd Lindsey, Martha Sue Keener, Judy Stout, Gerald and Harriet Kunce, Helen Shawver and family; giving in memory of Arletta Phillips were Jack and Kathleen Inman and Ralph and Felita Dayton; giving in memory of Margaret Maurer and Catherine Landon was Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority Eta Chi Chapter in Dunkirk.

August: Giving gifts were John and Susann Gilbert, United Way of Delaware County and Nell Monroe. Giving in memory of Danny Rowles were Frank, Nancy, Scott, Tracy, Andrea and family and Tim and Phyllis Upp; giving in memory of Edward Somers were Jayne Schmidt, Clarence and Phyllis Ritter, Ann Smith, Bob and Inez Kunkle and Mr. and Mrs. Don Somers; giving in memory of Rhonda Ludy was an anonymous gift; giving in memory of Alan Ayers were Michael and Michelle Del Busto and Gary Alig family; giving in memory of Louise Miller were Blaine and Virginia Zimmerman; giving in memory of Sandy Green were Ernie and Norma Whitacre and Dean and Alice Poole.

September: Giving gifts were an anonymous donor and Pizza Hut. Giving in memory of Alan Ayers were Alice Valentine and family and Mass DEP-Office of Enforcement; giving in memory of Donavon Kelley was an anonymous donor; giving in memory of Rhonda Ludy was Frankie Kunkle; giving in memory of Betty Hisey were Pat Frank, Bill and Rose Fennig, Tom and Anne Jenning, Dale Fennig and Bob and Joan Marshall; giving in memory of Anna Vorhees were Fannie Landfair and Dick and Frankie Kunkle.

Ray and Faye Myers are the parents of three children, Bill Myers and Ron Myers, both of Portland, and Mrs. Larry (Nancy) Batchelder, Fort Wayne. The have 13 living grandchildren; 19 living great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Livestock Expo

Three area residents will show animals at the 36th annual North American International Livestock Exposition to be held Nov. 7 to 20 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky.

Bailey Green, Bryant, will show a shorthorn beef; Will Taylor and Megan Taylor, both of Portland, will show sheep in the junior market lamb division.

NCGLNAC events

The National Center for Great Lakes Native American Culture, Inc. will have a Great Lakes Fur Trade Class for Children on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Women's Building at the Jay County Fairgrounds. For more information, call Kay Neumayr at (765) 426-3022 or email [email protected].

Also a Fall Friendship Fire Celebration will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Women's Building with registration beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday. There will be hiking on the NCGLNAC trail, planning bridges for the trail, keeping the fire, learning traditional Native teachings from a tribal elder, working on unfinished projects and a dinner Saturday evening.[[In-content Ad]]
