JCHS 4th in state
Taking Note
The Jay County High School Academic English team competed recently in the state finals of the Indiana Academic Competitions for Excellence held at the Loeb Playhouse at Purdue University.
Jay County placed fourth out of eight schools in the Class One competition. Team members are seniors Jake Omstead and Sarah Shrack, sophomores Megan Buschur and Ann Casey and freshman Audrey Franklin.
Open house
The Jay County Historical Museum will have an open house on Sunday, May 23, from 1 to 4 p.m. On display will be wedding gowns, a common school, and items from the Bimel family and John Shambarger of Redkey. The museum is located at 903 E. Main St. in Portland.
New board
The Jay County Historical Society recently chose its board of directors for 2010. Board members are Ralph Grapner, Carole Leonhard, Judy Williamson, Kay Locker, Jane Spencer, Elizabeth Hudson, Larry Hiatt, Chuck Wangler, John Lingo, Tom Young, Larry Bubp, Dave Frasher, Jeff Bowen, Jim Miller and Larry Paxson.[[In-content Ad]]
