JCHS crushes Indians, Rebels
JCHS boys golf
Four Patriots scored 43 or better Tuesday. Only one player from an opposing team shot better than 45.
Adam Gray's 2-over-par round led the Jay County High School boys golf team to its best dual-match score of the year at 161. The visiting Union City Indians posted a 192 at Portland Golf Club while the Randolph Southern Rebels did not have enough golfers for a team score.
Gray, who signed Tuesday to play golf at Valparaiso next season, played a steady round as he opened with three consecutive pars. He added back-to-back pars on holes 14 and 15, and closed with consecutive pars on the 344-yard, par-4 17th and 178-yard, par-3 18th holes for a 37.
Union City's top score was a 43 from Dallas Doppler while Caleb Elliott led Randolph Southern's three players with a 47.
Adam Horn joined Gray in the 30s despite opening with a bogey. He bounced back to par the 11th hole and then picked up a birdie on the 498-yard, par-5 12th hole. The senior added four more pars to finish with a 39.
Chase Wellman also birdied No. 12 and added two pars for a 42. Adam Mescher started with a birdie on the 348-yard, par-4 10th hole and had two pars in his round of 43.
Drew Houck added a 47, and Isaac Poole finished at 51.[[In-content Ad]]
