JCHS finishes in 3-way tie

MUNCIE - Hannah McAbee finished 2-1 Saturday to help the Jay County High School girls tennis team finish in a three-way tie for second place in the Olympic Athletic Conference.
The Patriots defeated Muncie Southside 3-2 for their only win in the tournament. They lost 3-2 to Connersville and 5-0 to Anderson Highland, which won the OAC title with a perfect 3-0 record.
Southside defeated Connersville 3-2 to give JCHS, Connersville and the host Rebels all 1-2 records.
McAbee cruised in her No. 2 singles match against Connersville's Hannah Crump, posting a 6-2, 6-2 victory. The senior also defeated Chelsea May for Southside 6-4, 6-3.
Mariah Clark gave the Patriots another singles victory against Southside, defeating Jennifer Lewis 6-1, 1-6 (11-9) at No. 3 singles.
Megan Huntsman and Briann Saxman tallied Jay County's third point with their victory at No. 1 doubles. They defeated Jamie Smith and Stephanie Hiatt 6-0, 6-4.
The only other victory came at No. 2 doubles against Connersville. Emily Huntsman and Becky Muhlenkamp battled through a tight match and beat Katie Harmeyer and Caitlin Durall 7-5, 6-4.
At No. 1 singles, Kayla Martin went 0-3 on the day.[[In-content Ad]]
