Earns award
Daniel Scott, a 2004 graduate of Jay County High School, won a Society of Professional Journalists Best in Indiana journalism third place award in the student division for best television news reporting.
Scott is a junior communication major at University of Indianapolis. He is the son of Harry and Carolyn Scott, Portland.
Dean's list
Students were recently named to the dean's list at Anderson University.
Making the list were Lauren Elizabeth Budde, Rachel Kathryn McKee and Nicole Marie VanSkyock, all from Portland.
Lifeskill winners
Bloomfield Elementary staff members recently chose winners for April for displaying the lifeskill "curiosity."
Winners were Devon Bash, Rebecca Betz, Carson Blowers, Owen Buschur, Daniel Costello, Colton Fravel, Hannah Lykins, Josh Lykins, Trent Miller, Chris Pfeifer, Cody Richards, Jacob Schmit, Lucas Schmit and Brandon Walker.
To be honored
Joel Taylor, principal at Deerfield Elementary School, will be honored by staff members at an open house for his retirement on Friday, May 25, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the school. Taylor has been a teacher and principal for 38 years.
Jamborees to begin
Blue grass jamborees at Limberlost Historic Site in Geneva will begin the third Sunday in June from 2 to 4 p.m. and will continue the third Sunday of each month through October. Anyone is welcome to bring an instrument and play.[[In-content Ad]]
