JCHS teacher McClung honored

Anne McClung was recently named German Teacher of the Year by the Indiana Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German for 2011.
She is now eligible for the Foreign Language Teacher of the Year to be selected in August.
Library events
Jay County Public Library will host an after school special on Friday, May 6, from 2:45 to 4 p.m. for children in grades kindergarten through third grade. There will be treats and crafts that focus on a greener way to live.
An after school special for teens will be Friday, May 20, from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. for teens in grades sixth, seventh and eighth grade. There will be treats and music and just ‘hanging out’ together.
Story times in May will be Monday, May 2, 9, 16 and 23 and Tuesday, May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. The time each day will be 11 a.m.
Me and Mother Goose will be held Friday, May 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 9:30 a.m.
The Book Discussion Group will discuss the book “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett on Monday, May 16, at 7 p.m. The book, set in Jackson, Miss., in the early 1960’s, is about a young white woman, an aspiring writer, who conducts a series of interviews with local black maids.
On Monday, June 20, the group will discuss “The Art of Racing in the Rain” by Garth Stein. The book is about the relationship between people and their pets.
Dunkirk Public Library is now part of the Evergreen Indiana Consortium, which means Dunkirk Public Library card holders may now use them at Jay County Public Library and vice versa.

The Poling High School Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday, May 7, in the Fellowship Hall at Union Chapel Church, 6200 North 375 West, Bryant. Doors open at 5 p.m.
