HAGERSTOWN - Everything finally came together for the Jay County High School boys swim team Tuesday.
Aaron Hudson and Neal Fennig each contributed to four wins, leading the Patriots to their first victory of the season 112-67 over the Hagerstown Tigers. The girls team, behind two individual wins from Eme Miller, picked up its third straight victory by a 126-58 score.
Hudson, a senior, dominated the 500-yard freestyle for the JCHS boys (1-7) by nearly 50 seconds in a time of 5 minutes, 33.41 seconds. He also won the 200 individual medley in 2:16.71.
Fennig also cruised to his first victory by nearly 13 seconds with a time of 1:01.7 in the 100 butterfly. The junior posted a winning time of 1:00.81 in the 100 backstroke.
Hudson and Fennig teamed with Derek Hughes and Travis Steed to take the 200 medley relay in 1:56.85, and joined Charles Burress and Wiley Young for first in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:51.39.
Miller powered the JCHS girls team as she broke the 1-minute mark in the 100 freestyle to win in 59.36. He also took the 100 backstroke in 1:11.62.
Mary Hudson added an individual win in 1:06.04 in the 100 butterfly and contributed to all three JCHS relay victories. She and Miller joined Michelle Landfair and Elaine Hemmelgarn to win the 200 medley relay in 2:03.86, and teamed with Jocelyn Mann and Marissa Murrell for first in 4:28.27 in the 400 freestyle relay.
Hudson, Landfair, Caitlin Ruchgy and Martyna Gajewska were first at 1:55.19 in the 200 freestyle relay.
For the boys team, Young took the 200 freestyle in 2:10.88, and Jared Valentine finished first by nearly seven seconds in the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.74.
Young was also second in the 100 freestyle, and Valentine finished third in the 100 freestyle. Caleb Hummel was second in both the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
Megan Taylor took first place in diving again for the Patriots with 179.5 points, and Landfair took the 50 freestyle with a time of 28.05. Michaela Long turned in the time of 1:21.49 to win the 100 breaststroke, and Laura Bowen won the 200 individual medley in 2:41.06.
Landfair was also second in the 100 freestyle, and Ruchgy finished second in both the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly.[[In-content Ad]]
