JCHS wins big (04/23/08)

JCHS baseball

Josh Ludy hit another home run. Nick Pryor saw his first pitching action of the year. And the Patriots bounced back from their first loss in a big way.

The efforts from the pair of seniors came in the Jay County High School baseball team's 13-0, five-inning slaughter of the visiting Union City Indians.

Ludy's home run was the 19th of the season for the Patirots (8-1), who set a school record with 27 in 2007. They still have 18 regular-season games on the schedule this year, putting them on pace to hit nearly 50 homers this year.

Luke Goetz added a triple as part of a 2-for-3 effort with two runs and an RBI. Michael Jobe was also 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs.

Pryor and Trey Dunn each had two hits for JCHS, which scored nine times in the first inning and seven in the fourth. Billy Wellman and Dalton McGill drove in two runs apiece.

Phil Powell got the start against Union City, giving up just a hit and a walk in three innings. He struck out four batters.

Pryor also picked up four strike outs as he gave up two hits and a walk in two innings.[[In-content Ad]]
