JCPL award winners named
Taking Note
The winners of Jay County Public Library’s “Get Caught Reading” photo contest have been announced.
Entries were voted on by visitors to the library during children’s book week, Nov. 14 to 20.
First place was a tie between Noah Hummel, eight year old son of Gene and Jennifer Hummel, pictured hanging upside down from a tree reading a Spiderman book; and Josephine Smith, for a shot of her infant granddaughter sitting on the floor reading a book.
The runner-up was Rosetta Shawver.
CHILD CLINIC
The Jay County Well Child Clinic, 521 S. Wayne St., Portland, will be open Tuesday, Dec. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Services include youth and children physical examinations, TB tests, lead screenings, and children’s developmental delay screenings.
The clinic is open to Jay County residents only who are without insurance or underinsured.
A sliding scale fee up to $20 may be applied for some services depending on family income. Appointments are needed for physical exams and TB tests. For more information or to make an appointment, call (260) 726-9318.
CLUB NEWS
The Jay County Amateur Radio Club and club president Jeff Landers recently presented Joe Downing, a trustee from the Pennville Ham Radio Club, with an appreciation certificate for his responsibilities as trustee of the repeater 145.21MHZ.
The club will host amateur radio field day on June 1.
FESTIVAL
The sixth annual town hall festival of trees will be held in Mendon, Ohio, on Friday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 4, from 1 to 5:30 p.m.
There will also be a tour of decorated churches, homes and a quilt display.
