JCPL hosting reading program (05/31/07)

Pre-registration has begun for the summer reading program at Jay County Public Library. Children may sign up today until 7 p.m. during the Scholastic Book Fair and also Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Registration for all ages will begin Monday and continue through June 16.
The program "Get a Clue @ your library" is for infants through children entering fifth grade. Those completing the program will be invited to a pool party and receive a free Fort Wayne Wizards ticket.
"You Never Know @ your library" is for teens in sixth through 12th grade. Teens will have a separate pool party and receive a Wizards ticket if four books are read.
"Goodies for Grown-ups" is the adult program. For each book read, names will be placed in a weekly drawing for free items from local merchants.
Special programs for pre-school through fifth grade will be held on June 11 - "Treasure Hunt," June 25 - "Thaddeus Rex," July 2 - "Mysterious Activities" and July 9 - "Detective Information and Fingerprinting Activity."
The Noise Guy will perform on Thursday, June 14, at 2 p.m.
Saturday craft specials will be June 9 and 23 and July 7 from noon until 3 p.m.
Family fun times will be June 14 and 28 and July 12 at 9:30 a.m.
Programs for teens will be June 12 - "Feng Shui: Map Your Room and Make Aromatherapy Candles," June 26 - "Mehndi" and July 10 - "Who Dunnit? Mystery Party." Registration is necessary.

The summer reading program at Fort Recovery Public Library will begin June 4. Participants may pick up a calendar of information at the library and also receive a library bag with treats when books are checked out.
Each time a book is read, a chance is given for the grand prize drawing.
Activities planned are games, crafts, storytime and fingerprinting with Chief of Police Jared Laux.
Ronald McDonald will visit the Hein Amphitheater on Wednesday, June 6, at 2 p.m. He will meet at the library if it rains.
There is also a program for teens and adults. For more infomation, call (419) 375-2869.

The Portland Pool will offer swim lessons for ages 4 and older. Registration will be Thursday, June 8, for lessons that are June 11 through 22 and Thursday, July 5, for lessons that are July 9 through 20.
Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to 9:30 a.m.; 9:40 to 10:10 a.m. or 10:20 to 10:50 a.m.
Water aerobics will be each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. The cost is $2 per class.[[In-content Ad]]
