JCPL pool party is Saturday
Taking Note
A party will be held Saturday at Portland Pool for kids who completed the summer reading programs ‘Dig Into Reading’ or ‘Beneath the Surface’ at Jay County Public Library. The party will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Refreshments will be served and prize bags will be given.
Children seven and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Family members are welcome to swim as well. For more information, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
Grant program
The Indiana Youth Institute is offering grants to nonprofit community and faith-based organizations that serve children, youth and families in Jay and surrounding counties.
The grants will provide 150 hours of professional consulting or technical assistance; registration for one to “Principles and Techniques of Fundraising” training seminar; registration for two to “Because Kids Count Conference” in Indianapolis in December.

Class of ’79 reunion
A reunion has been planned for graduates of the class of 1979 from Jay County High School.
Three events are set for Saturday, July 20.
Class of ’79 alumni are invited to gather for coffee and donuts from 8 to 11 a.m. at Jay County Public Library, 315 N. Ship St. in Portland.
A pitch-in dinner will begin at 1 p.m. at Haynes Park in Portland and another get-together will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Portland Elks Lodge, 126 W. High St.
