JCPL receives grant
Taking Note
Jay County Public Library recently purchased at Kindle Touch, a Nook Color and an iPad 2 from Wal-Mart.
The items were purchased with a $1,000 grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation to promote digital literacy in Jay County.
Library staff will be trained to use the equipment to better help patrons and will offer a “Technology Petting Zoo” on Thursday, Feb. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the library to help educate about eReaders and eBooks.

Kaleb Hemmelgarn, a senior, and Jared Valentine, a sophomore, made the dean’s list at Wabash College in Crawfordsville for the fall semeter. Kaleb is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Hemmelgarn, Portland, and Jared is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Valentine, Portland.

The American Red Cross will have a blood drive on Monday, Feb. 13, at Judge Haynes Elementary and Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Bloomfield Elementary. Both will be from 2 to 7 p.m.
