Jay County Public Library will have an after school special on Friday from 2:45 until 4 p.m. Children ages kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to attend. A snack will be provided, a story shared and a craft or activity completed. Pre-registration is necessary. Call the library at (260) 726-7890 or stop by at 315 N. Ship Street in Portland to register.

An Internet for Beginners class will be held Saturday from 9 until 11 a.m. and Thursday, Sept. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. To register for either of these classes, call the library at (260) 726-7890.

Family Fun Time will be held every other Thursday at JCPL, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 7 and continuing through Dec. 14. This is a time kids can play, parents may read to children and story reading will be attempted.

Storytimes, for preschool-aged children, will begin Monday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. During this time five books will be read aloud and a craft will be completed.

The Book Reading Group is discussing the book The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. The group meets the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. The next meeting is Monday, Sept. 18. New members are welcome.

The library is looking for yearbooks from county schools before the consolidation, books that might help those researching local history or copies of Jay County Indiana, 1982. Anyone wishing to donate books or pamphlets for the Indiana Room at the library may call (260) 726-7890.[[In-content Ad]]
