JC's Reynard is No. 2 seed

Brandon Reynard finished fifth in the state in the 300-meter hurdles last season. He looks primed for another trip to the finals.
The Jay County High School senior will be the No. 2 seed in the 300 hurdles at the Indianapolis North Central regional, which will be contested Thursday at 6 p.m.
Reynard won the 300 hurdles sectional title for the third straight season at the Muncie Central sectional last week, finishing in a time of 39.28 seconds. The No. 1 seed for the event is Duane Brown of Ben Davis, who posted a sectional time of 39.06.
The top three competitors in each event advance to the state finals. An athlete can also earn a state berth by meeting the state-qualifying standard, which is 39.13 in the 300 hurdles this season.
Reynard, who also won sectional titles in the 110 hurdles and 200 dash and finished second in the 100 dash, will compete in two other events in the regional. He will be the No. 6 seed in the 200 dash after posting a time of 22.71 at Muncie Central and the No. 12 seed for the 100 dash.
The state standards in those events are 22.19 and 10.93 respectively.
Dexter Shreve, a senior, has single digit seeds in both of his events as well.
The 2008 state qualifier in the long jump will be the No. 6 seed for Thursday's high jump competition. He was second in the sectional as he cleared the bar at 6 feet, 3 inches.
Shreve is seeded seventh in the 400 dash after winning the sectional championship in 50.91 seconds. He missed a state berth in that event by just four tenths of a second last season.
State standards are 6 feet, 5 ΒΌ inches in the high jump at 48.93 seconds in the 400 dash.
The next best seed for Jay County is in the 4x800 relay where the team of Joe Rasmussen, Brady Mills, Kyle Simmons and Tevan Nichols are 10th. Shreve, Simmons, Mills and Rasmussen are the 13th-seeded team in the 4x400 relay.
Other individuals competing in the regional are Lance Franklin (11th seed - discus), Rasmussen (14th - 800 run), Simmons (15th - 400 dash), Zach Cash (15th - 300 hurdles) and Nichols (16th - 1,600 run).[[In-content Ad]]
