JC's Weaver on top relays for Little Giants (12/09/06)

Some of the best Division III competition in the country brought out the best in Kyle Weaver and his teammates.
Weaver, a 2003 Jay County High School graduate, and the Wabash College swim team finished fifth in the Nike Cup Invitational Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 at Kenyon. He was in on a couple of season-best relay times at the meet.
Tony Caldwell, Robert Dent, Blain Cooper-Surma and Weaver sliced more than a second from their best time of the 2005-06 season to place seventh in the 200 medley relay in 1-minute, 35.58 seconds.
Weaver was also in on a sixth-place finish as he joined Philip Towne, Robert Fozkos and Cooper-Surma in the 200 freestyle relay. They took sixth place, bettering the school's 2006 North Coast Athletic Conference time at 1:26.43.
Tyler Rigby
Jay County - 2006
Picked up three points apiece in the Indiana University Southeast men's basketball team pair of games in the Ben Waterman Classic at Central State.
Rigby finished with three points, three rebounds and one assist in a 77-64 win Dec. 1 over Urbana, and hit a 3-pointer in an 89-72 Dec. 2 loss to West Virginia Tech. He finished with one assist as the Grenadiers edged Brecia University 77-74 Thursday.
Tyler Niekamp
Fort Recovery - 2003
Scored six points in a recent victory of the University of Findlay men's basketball team, which is now ranked 13th in Division II.
Niekamp shot 2-of-3 Nov. 2 and made both of his 3-point attempts in a 70-56 victory over Northern Michigan. He also had two rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Kurt Hess
Jay County - 2006
Got into the lineup for the Wabash College wrestling team for the first time in the Little Giants' 25-16 victory Nov. 29 over the University of Chicago.
Hess did not have to wrestle in his opening appearance as he was awarded the 141-pound match by forfeit.[[In-content Ad]]
