INDIANAPOLIS - The honors have continued to stack up for the record-breaking 2008 Jay County High School baseball team.
Michael Jobe and Josh Ludy each earned first team all-state honors from the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association.
Jobe led the Patriots to one of the most prolific power-hitting seasons in state history, hitting a state-best 17 home runs. The team broke the state record for slugging percentage, and finished third in state history with 65 home runs.
He was second in the state in total bases with 112 and fourth with a 1.258 slugging percentage. He was also among the top 25 in the state in runs (43), RBIs (42), hits (47) and batting average (.528).
Ludy, who will also play in the IHSBCA's North-South All-Star Series, was seventh in the state in both slugging percentage (.683) and walks (30). He was 17th in batting average at .554 and had 11 home runs, 41 hits, 40 runs, 35 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.
Williams wins three
GREENFIELD - Patrick Williams won three events as the Patriot Track Club competed at the Cougar Summer Series hosted by Greenfield-Central High School.
Williams finished first in the 15-16-year-old boys long jump with a distance of 18 feet, 3 inches. He also placed first in the 100-meter dash in 11.77 seconds and the 200 dash in 23.65.
Emma Minnich won the 9-10-year-old girls 400-meter dash with a time of 1-minute, 23.46 seconds.
Tevan Nichols was victorious in the 15-16-year-old boys 800 run at 2:25.43, and Adam Norris took the 25-29-year-old boys 100 dash in 13.32.[[In-content Ad]]
