Kahlig 2nd in district

Fort Recovery roundup

LIMA, Ohio — Jared Kahlig has his eyes on the state finals.
After firing a 75 to win the Midwest Athletic Conference tournament less than a week ago, the Fort Recovery High School senior was nearly as good Thursday as he finished second in the boys golf district tournament to earn a regional berth.
The Indians finished one place short of earning a trip to the regional as a team, placing fifth out of 13 teams with a 344. The top four squads were Lima Central Catholic (302), Minster (321), Parkway (322) and New Bremen (324).
Kahlig finished with a 4-over-par 76 Thursday to finish one stroke behind New Bremen’s Darin Bergman in the tournament at Hawthorne Hills Country Club. The top four teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team advance to the regional round.
Following Kahlig for Fort Recovery was Gage Retz with an 84. Shawn Roessner added a 90, and Derek Rammel finished at 94.
Kahlig will compete in the regional Thursday at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green for a chance to advance to the state finals.
