Kahlig wins 3; boys set record

CONVOY, Ohio — Kylie Kahlig racked up three victories Thursday to lead the Fort Recovery High School girls track team to a double win while the boys team broke a record.
The Indian girls scored 67 points to beat host Crestview (60) and the Continental (37). The Tribe boys set a new mark in the 4x200-meter relay as they scored 40 points to finish in third place.
Kahlig took the top spot in the shot put at 32 feet, 11½ inches and the high jump at 4 feet, 8¼ inches. She also posted a time of 2 minutes, 41 seconds to win the 800-meter run.
Aaron Vagedes, Cole Hull, David Trobridge and Seth Riegle teamed to win the 4x200 relay for the boys in 1:39.9. They broke the previous record of 1:40.9 set in 2008 by Matt Vagedes, Perry Hull, Michael Trobridge and Don Cotterman.
Vagedes also took first in the 200 dash in 24.4 and the 400 dash in 55.2.

Tigers top softball
FORT RECOVERY — The Indians managed just one hit and committed eight errors Thursday as they suffered their first loss of the year, 15-0 in five innings to the Ansonia Tigers.

Beca Tobe took the loss for Fort Recovery (2-1), giving up 10 runs, only two of which were earned, while walking two and striking out two. Cassidy Rammel gave up five runs in relief.
Haley Knapke had a single for the Tribe’s only hit of the night.

MS girls track rolls
FORT RECOVERY — The middle school girls track team got three more wins from Caitlyn Huelskamp and dominated at home Tuesday, scoring 125.5 points to defeat St. Henry (65), Parkway (29) and New Knoxville (2.5).
The boys team tallied 52.5 points to finish second to St. Henry (79.5) and ahead of Parkway (48) and New Knoxville (43).
Huelskamp, who also won three events in Tuesday’s season opener, finished first in the 800-meter run in 2:42.9 and the 1,600 run in 6:04.3. She took the top spot in the high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches.
Kasey Vogel added victories in the shot put with a toss of 27 feet, 6½ inches and the discus at 62 feet, 9½ inches. Other wins for the girls team came from Chelsea Timmerman (100 hurdles), Julie Wendel (400 dash) and Peyton Tobe (long jump).
Wes Wenning earned the lone win for the boys with a leap of 14 feet, 8½ inches in the long jump.[[In-content Ad]]
