Kaup now third on Syracuse all-time list (09/30/06)
Collegiate Check-up
It has been a tough season for the Syracuse University women's volleyball team. But Joscie Kaup has certainly been a bright spot.
The Orange are just 3-15 on the year, but Kaup has climbed all the way to third place on the squad's all-time digs list.
The 2004 Fort Recovery graduate opened the season in ninth place, but has vaulted over six players, including a pair of teammates who graduated in 2005, to push into the top three. Her 31 digs in a loss to Cincinnati Sunday gave her 1,300 for her career, pushing her ahead of 2004 graduate Christen Casey (1,284).
Kaup trails only Andrea Carson (1,460), who played at Syracuse from 1989-92, and all-time leader Rachel Watson (1,791), who finished her college career in 1999.
The 31 digs against Cincinnati - she also had three aces, two assists and one kill - were just two short of Kaup's career high. She also had 18 digs, two aces and two assists in a loss to Louisville Sept. 22.
Cameron Hummel
Jay County - 2003
Put together a solid game for the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology football team, but also suffered his second injury of the season.
Hummel rushed for 58 yards and passed for 43 in leading the Engineers to a 25-0 victory over North Park. But the senior quarterback, who missed the opening game of the season with an injury, suffered and ankle sprain which is expected to keep him out of action for a couple of weeks.
He carried 10 times for his 58 yards against North Park, and completed 5-of-15 passes.
Jenny Gresla
South Adams - 2003
Posted a three-game season high for assists as the Denison University women's volleyball team defeated Allegheny Sept. 23.
Gresla racked up 50 assists in the victory over Allegheny, and added another 46 assists in a win over Oberlin Tuesday. She also had 28 assists in a loss to Hiram Sept. 22.
Adam Foster
Jay County - 2005
Helped the University of St. Francis men's golf team to a third-place finish at the five-team Taylor University Invitational Sept. 21.
Foster shot an 87 at Walnut Creek Golf Course in Upland. He also had an 89 at Blackthorn Golf Course in South Bend as the Cougars placed sixth out of eight teams at the Battle at Blackthorn.[[In-content Ad]]
