Klopp wins 2 for SA (12/11/06)

OSSIAN - Justin Klopp scored the only victories among the pair of area boys swim teams competing at the Norwell Invitational Saturday.
Klopp won a pair of events for South Adams, which finished sixth out of nine teams with 104 points. Jay County's top finish in any event was eighth as the Patriots were last with 36 points.
Carroll won the event with 324 points, and Oak Hill was second with 306.
Klopp was outstanding as he won both the 50-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly by nearly a second. He finished his 50 freestyle win ahead of Bellmont's Skyles Fullenkamp in 22.22 seconds, just 28 hundredths slower than the state standard.
The sophomore beat out Mike Veerkamp of Bishop Dwenger in the 100 butterfly in 54.97.
Freshman Alex Habegger finished just over a second off the pace in his third-place finish for South Adams. He was third in the 100 breaststroke in 1-minute, 6.58 seconds.
Klopp, Habegger, Kyle Affolder and John Gresla combined to finish fifth in the meet-opening 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.49.
Jay County's top finish was shared by Tom McCord and Aaron Hudson. McCord placed eighth in the 100 backstroke at 1:03.97, and Hudson was eighth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.75.
The top relay effort for the Patriots came in the final event of the day where McCord, Lance VanSkyock, Andres Ayesta and Chance Milligan teamed for ninth in the 400 freestyle relay.[[In-content Ad]]
