Kunkler's art work to be included in 2012 calendar
Taking Note
A Portland student’s art work has been selected to appear in the calendar published each year by Electric Consumer, a statewide publication of Indiana’s electric cooperatives.
Olivia Kunkler, a fourth grade student, was one of the winners of the Cooperative Calendar of Student Art Contest.
Her artwork will also be displayed in Hoosier Salon galleries in Indianapolis, New Harmony and Wabash.
Third in state
East Jay Middle School academic teams recently competed at the Academic Super Bowl Competition at Union County Middle School.
The science team, consisting of Andrew McShane, Jacob Shepherd, Luke Rowles, Courtney Thomas and Julie Schubert, placed first in class 2 and first over all.
Also the Indiana Association of School Principals recently announced that the team’s score was high enough to put them in third place in the state.
District winners
Three local students recently competed in the Optimist District Essay Contest.
Catherine Dunn placed first, Jessica Kerrigan placed second and Kathryn Smeltzer took third place.[[In-content Ad]]
