Leather carver coming to fairgrounds (04/10/08)
Taking Note
The Mini 4-H Horse and Pony Club will present a leather workshop with world master leather carver Ava Gannon on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon in the 4-H Building at the Jay County Fairgrounds.
Gannon will share her experiences from world shows to lifetime achievement awards and will share secrets of how to care for special leathers. Awards for her world shows will be on display.

Looking for hosts
Mike and Terri Weesner have been appointed as International Exchange Coordinators for EF Foundation for Foreign Study for Jay, Adams and Blackford counties.
They will be facilitating opportunities for local families and schools to host high school students from 40 different countries wishing to experience life in American for a semester to a year.

Miss Torrid
Brittney Kirtley, a 2002 graduate of Jay County High School, has been selected as one of 15 finalists to compete in the Miss Torrid Indiana Pageant in Fort Wayne in July.
Torrid is a mall-based retail store that offers apparel and accessories for young women sizes 12 to 26.
Miss Torrid Indiana believes in promoting women who have a positive self image, who can be role models to plus-sized women. They are looking for women who believe that they are beautiful because of their size, not in spite of it.
The winner will be involved as a panel judge/fashion expert in fashion show and modeling auditions, premier model in all fashion shows, freeze modeling, holiday balls and other Torrid events and a representative in fundraising events for the local community events.
The pageant helps raise money for Riley Children's Hospital.
Brittney works at Dairy Queen, Persimmon Ridge and Hot Topic and is a full time student.
