FORT WAYNE — He almost had a freshman teammate join him, but Patriot senior Derick Lee was the lone member of the Jay County boys swim team to make it to a sectional championship race.
Lee finished sixth in the 100-yard butterfly at Thursday’s Homestead sectional preliminaries at Summit Middle School in Fort Wayne to earn a championship berth. Tom McCord was tied for sixth in one of his individual events, but lost a swim-off for the final spot in the championship heat.
