Lehman sets new SA record (04/20/07)

BERNE - Haleigh Lehman is making her final trips around the SAHS track her best.

Lehman, a South Adams senior, set a new school record in the 3,200-meter run Thursday in leading the Starfire girls track team to a victory in a three-way meet. SAHS finished with 71 points followed by Woodlan (51) in second and Southern Wells (34) in third.

Josh Cisney earned the only individual wins for the Starfire boys, who finished second with 53 points. Southern Wells eked out the win with 55 points, and Woodlan was a close third with 48.

Lehman powered the girls team with a pair of victories, including the new school record time in the 3,200 at 12-minutes, 10 seconds. She also finished in 5:44 to win the 1,600 run.

Cisney's victories came in the hurdle events. The senior took the 110 hurdles in 16.9 seconds and won the 300 race in 44.2.

Senior Katie Weaver took the long jump for the SAHS girls at 14 feet, 4 inches, and Allison Beitler was first in the 800 run in 2:39.9.

The South Adams boys and girls teams each finished first in the 4x800 relay, and the girls team also took the top spot in the 4x100 relay.

Fort splits with Anna

FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery junior high track teams were on the opposite end of lop-sided decisions Thursday.

The girls team got two wins apiece from Kylie Kahlig and Holly Brunswick and rolled to a 76-47 victory over the Anna Rockets while the boys' only win came from Michael Cotterman in a 98.67-24.33 defeat.

Kahlig took the top spot in the 400-meter dash in 1-minute, 7.8 seconds, and also won the shot put with a toss of 28 feet, 10 inches. Holly Brunswick was first in the 100 hurdles with a time of 18.6, and won the high jump, clearing the bar at 4 feet, 61/4 inches.

Cotterman picked up the only win for the Tribe boys in the 110 hurdles, finishing in 19 seconds flat.

Adding wins for the FRMS girls were Barbie Link in the discus (63 feet, 7 inches), Alexis Sutter in the 1,600 run (6:31.10) and Abby Huelskamp in the 800 run.[[In-content Ad]]
