Leo defeats SAHS softball

BERNE — The South Adams High School softball team remains winless in the Allen County Athletic Conference after falling 10-2 Friday to the visiting Leo Lions.
Alyssa Bluhm took the loss, although only four of the 10 runs against her were earned. She gave up 14 hits and three walks while striking out one batter.
The Starfires (2-6, 0-3 ACAC) committed five errors in the game, and Leo tallied four runs in the third inning and three in the sixth.
Brianna Nevil led the offense for SAHS, which scored its only two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. She finished 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI.
Mykala Coblentz scored the other run for the Starfires, and Jennifer Miller added a single.

AC tops netters
BERNE — Lindsey Graber and Kassy Potts picked up the only win for the girls tennis team Friday in a 4-1 loss to the visiting Adams Central Jets.
Graber and Potts cruised to their win over Madison Johnson and Emily Parrish in No. 1 singles action. The Starfire duo gave up just a single game in the opening set en route to a 6-1, 6-3 victory.
All four of the South Adams losses came in straight sets, with Aine O’Donnell falling 6-0, 6-0 to Hail Wendel at No. 1 singles and Abbie Campbell and Holly Taylor losing 6-1, 6-1 to Breann Stucky and Hannah Harvey at No. 2 doubles. In the No. 2 singles match, Alex Fox lost 6-2, 6-2 to Jessica Ripley, and at No. 3 singles Mallory Eicher fell by the same score to Laura Sigworth.
SAHS dropped the junior varsity match 7-2 with victories from Faith VonGunten and the team of Tiffany Yoder and Shiana Scott.[[In-content Ad]]
