Leo spikers knock off SA

LEO — The Leo Lions defeated the South Adams High School volleyball team 25-15, 25-18 Tuesday in the Allen County Athletic Conference tournament.
Taylor Farlow had five kills, five digs and four blocks in the defeat. The Starfires, who were 0-7 in regular-season conference play, dropped to 3-24 on the year.
Two of the other ACAC tournament matches were decided in two games as Woodlan topped Southern Wells 24-14, 25-3 and Adams Central beat Heritage 25-22, 25-18. Garrett earned a 25-18, 24-26, 26-24 victory over Bluffton.
 
Kahlig earns All-MAC
Jared Kahlig of Fort Recovery was named to the All-Midwest Athletic Conference boys golf team this week.
Kahlig earned 129.5 conference points to place him 10th. The top 12 golfers earned all-MAC honors.
Minster led the conference schools with three all-MAC first-team award winners.

WJ stomps Bears
DUNKIRK — James Williams scored four times Tuesday to lead the West Jay Middle School football team to a 34-12 victory over the visiting Monroe Central Golden Bears.
Williams opened the scoring with a 64-yard TD run and added scoring runs of 8 and 55 yards in the win. He also had a 35-yard interception returns for a TD, finished with 193 yards on nine carries and made five tackles.
Bryce Bantz added a 3-yard scoring run and made four tackles.

Tribe spikers fall
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Middle School volleyball teams struggled Tuesday with the eighth grade team falling 25-11, 25-15 to New Knoxville and the seventh graders losing 25-5, 25-7.
Cassidy Rammel finished with five points, including four aces, and four kills for the eighth grade Indians. Tori Lennartz had four kills and three digs.
Rachel Kaup’s three points were a team-high for the Tribe seventh graders (4-9).
Kendra Siefring finished with one kill.

SAMS gridders lose
WARREN — South Adams’ eighth grade football team suffered a 20-6 loss Tuesday to Huntington Riverview, and the seventh graders fell 21-6 to host Salamonie.
Kane Sumner led the Starfire eighth graders (2-4) with 88 yards on four receptions, including a 60-yard TD pass.
He also had five tackles.
Spencer Niece had a 22-yard run for the seventh grade squad (1-5) as he ran for 116 yards on 14 carries and caught nine passes for 46 yards.

Eagles defeat HC
DUNKIRK — The West Jay Middle School eighth grade volleyball team scored a 25-10, 21-25, 15-11 victory Tuesday over visiting Hartford City. The seventh grade Eagles lost 25-15, 25-15.
Baleigh Wiemer led the victory for the WJMS eighth graders (6-4) with 12 points, including three aces. Breea Holdcroft added 10 points.
Emily Jobe scored six points and had three aces for the seventh grade team.

EJMS seventh wins
PARKER CITY — East Jay Middle School’s seventh grade volleyball team defeated the host Monroe Central Golden Bears 25-24, 25-20 Monday.
Ava Kunkler led the victory with seven points, three digs and two kills. Gabby Hart scored five points, and Kylie Osborne recorded three kills for the Chiefs (11-7).

Conrad, Schnieders lead
Denise Conrad and John Schnieders have the highest point totals through four races in the Adams County Community Foundation Run/Walk Challenge.
Conrad and Schnieders, both of whom compete in the 45-49-year-old division, have each scored 72 points in the series, which includes six races throughout the year. The final race of the series is the Rainbow Lake 5K on Nov. 27 in Geneva.
South Adams High School runners Hannah Moore and Eric Isch are the current leaders in the 15-19-year-old divisions. Leaders in the 14-and-younger division are Sammi Dunno and Noah Obringer.
Other division leaders are Michelle Yoder, Tami Henry, Lisa McAfee, Anita Lehman, Coni Mayer, Connie Moser, Ben Moeller, Lance Yoder, Ben Frey, Chris Hawbaker, Kent Liechty, Paul Shaffer, Steve Hoeppner and Rick Jones.[[In-content Ad]]
