Leo, SW defeat Starfires (09/14/05)

BERNE — Running at home was not quite enough for the South Adams boys Tuesday.

The Starfires took a couple of losses, falling to Southern Wells 24-32 and Leo 17-39. Leo defeated Southern Wells 19-37.

Nathan Rupp was the top South Adams runner as Leo took the top three positions and Southern Wells grabbed the next two. He was sixth overall in 19-minutes, 15 seconds.

Chase Sprunger was the only other Starfire in the top 10 as he took 10th in 20:11. Justin Sommer was 12th in 20:23, Phil Horton finished 13th in 20:25 and Daniel Dynes was 15th in 20:47.

Selvey, Cotherman win

WINCHESTER — There were no team wins for West Jay Tuesday. But a couple of individuals did finish first.

Kristen Selvey and Jeremiah Cotherman were first in the girls race and boys eighth grade race respectively as the Eagles battled Winchester Driver. The girls team lost to Driver 21-40, the boys sixth and seventh grade team fell 15-50 and the boys eighth grade team did not post a team score.

Selvey carried the girls team as she finished in 11:50. She was followed by four Driver runners.

Macy Gerber was next for West Jay in sixth in 13:10. Carly Weaver was 11th in 14:34, Elizabeth Lennartz finished 12th in 14:36 and Shannon Springer took 13th in 14:45.

Cotherman was the lone eighth grade boy to run for West Jay at Driver, but he made the race count as he won in 10:56.

Driver took the top nine positions in the sixth and seventh grade boys race with Chance Fuller as the top West Jay runner in 10th with a time of 13:08. He was followed by Wesley Price (12th - 13:28), Trey Auker (14th - 14:08), Brandon Dishman (17th - 15:38) and Zach Johnson (18th - 15:53).[[In-content Ad]]
