Library bus program set (8/2/05)

It’s time to start thinking about going back to school and Jay County Public Library will once again offer “Don’t Miss the Bus!” for incoming kindergarten and first grade students. The program will be Monday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. at the library.
Children will be given a review of safety rules by bus driver Carol Lykins of the Jay School Corporation. They will then board the bus and ride to Bloomfield Elementary School and be greeted by kindergarten teacher Carolyn Scott. There will be stories and a chance to play on the playground. Children will return to the library around noon.
Registration is required and parents are strongly encouraged to ride with their child. To register or for more information, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
The Jay County Public Library will hold a Scholastic Book Fair in the Community Room on Friday, Aug. 5, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Book bucks from the summer reading program may be used.
Geneva library
The Geneva Public Library will show movies during the month of August.
On Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. a film about Minnesota Cuke, a children’s museum curator who also has the heart of an explorer, as he uses the powers of Samson’s hairbrush to battle Professor Rattan, will be shown.
On Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m. a new Winnie the Pooh show, with songs by Carly Simon will be shown.
A scrapbook seminar will be on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 6:30 p.m., led by Jay County resident Sheila Alger. Reservations are required and the cost is $5. To make reservations, call the library at (260) 368-7270.
Minnetrista events
A Summer Star Party will be held at Minnetrista Cultural Center in Muncie on Friday, Aug. 5, from 8 to 10 p.m. or Saturday, Aug. 6, from 8 to 10 p.m. After an intergalactic dinner, we will search for constellations, make binoculars and play night sky activities. Presidential Hopefuls: The Quest for the Oval Office, a dramatic and educational collection of photos, original cartoons and memorabilia will be on display through Oct. 16, at Minnetrista Cultural Center. For more information, call (765) 282-4848.
Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $4 for child/student. The hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Job Fair
The New InterUrban, operated by LifeStream Services, will provide rides for those wanting to attend the 6th Congressional District Job Fair 2005 on Friday. The Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ball State University Worthen Arena. Interested riders may call (765) 759-1121 or (800) 589-1121.
Dean’s list
