Library named collaborator of the year

Jay County Public Library was named Collaborator of the Year by Jay-Randolph Developmental Services, Inc.
JCPL welcomes groups and clients from JRDS to the library and JCPL employee Cindy Strietelmeier reads aloud and tells stories to those who attend a Basic Living Skills class held at the library.
Story times
Jay County Public Library will have story times in October on Mondays at 10 a.m. and Tuesdays at 1 p.m. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Also beginning Friday, Oct. 16, at 10:30 a.m. will be a visit from Mother Goose. She will hold an interactive, musically-inspired entertaining and educational session for children and their parent or caregiver.
Mother Goose will continue to visit the library each Friday.
Receives scholarship
Michelle Dirksen, Bryant, received the Valedictorian Scholarship of Excellence for $1,000 at the Purdue University College of Agriculture Scholarship Banquet.
Dirksen is a freshman at Purdue, studying agricultural economics. Her parents are Robert and Carol Dirksen.
To compete
Ten Midwest Athletic Conference Schools, including Fort Recovery High School, will compete in the JV Scholastic Tournament on Monday, Oct. 19, at 4 p.m. at New Knoxville High School.
Fort Recovery's coach is Margie Dilworth.
Ghost trek
A team from Indiana Ghost Trackers Kokomo Chapter will lead a free ghost trek through Randolph County sites on Friday, Oct. 30.
The trek will begin at 10:30 p.m. at Farmland Cultural Center, 103 N.. Main St. in Farmland.
