Library to host book fair (5/21/04)
Taking Note
The Friends of the Jay County Public Library will hold a Scholastic Book Fair in the community room at the library on Thursday, May 27, and Friday, May 28, from 2 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 29, from 8 to 11 a.m.
A special preview sale for Friends of the Library will be on Wednesday, May 26, from 6 to 7 p.m.
The fair will offer a buy one, get one free special and will also be selling posters, erasers, pens, pencils and much more.
Proceeds from the book fair will be used for upcoming programs at the library. For more information, call Miranda Hummel at (260) 726-7890.
EARNS DEGREE
Andrew Philip Jellison, Elwood, a former Portland resident, graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion on April 17 with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministries. He is the son of the Rev. Phill Jellison, Portland, and Mrs. Sherry Bess, Elwood.
The Portland Gospel Lighthouse Church will host an open house Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the church in honor of his graduation.
Cheryl Rust, daughter of Mark Rust, Portland, and Mike and Naomi Cook, Decatur, earned a bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition from Bluffton College in Bluffton, Ohio in a May 2 ceremony.
She graduated from Adams Central High School.
Several other Jay County residents graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne on May 12.
Debra Addington, Dunkirk, earned an associate’s degree in nursing.
Kristin McKee, Portland, earned an associate’s degree in health sciences.
Joshua and Joseph Wuebker, Portland, both earned bachelor’s degrees in manufacturing technology.
TEACHERS MEET
Beverly and Glen Priest and Bob Freemyer attended the 39th annual representative assembly of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association in Indianapolis on May 19.
The assembly had 300 delegates in attendance.[[In-content Ad]]
