Local couple celebrating
Jim and Carol Hedges, 1216 S. Meridian St., Portland, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.
Jim married Carol Elliott on Aug. 20, 1961, at Pennville United Methodist Church.
Carol retired from Hinkle & Racster and was also employed in the Jay County Prosecutor’s office and the office of Robert Clamme, attorney at law.
Jim retired from the city of Portland where he served as mayor and street and parks superintendent.
They are the parents of Brian Hedges (wife: Lori), Greenwood; Steven Hedges (wife: Lisa), Indianapolis; Mark Hedges (wife: Judy), and Karin Somers (husband: Ron), both of Portland. They also have eight grandchildren.
The couple plans to celebrate with a family dinner at Bearcreek Farms.[[In-content Ad]]
