Taking Note
Ivy Tech Community College’s East Central Region named students to the Dean’s List for the fall 2012 semester.
From Bryant were Kassie Cavanaugh and Matthew Gierhart; from Dunkirk were Patricia Blair, Latisha Blankenship, Jordan Hatfield, Andrew Hughes, Donald Miskinis, Zachary Ogle, Dillon Rees, Lydia Rowles, Sabrina Sallee and Daniel Willoughby; from Pennville was April Coleman.
From Portland were Adam Arnold, Lindsey Bishop, Draya Boles, Pamela Bullock, Jennifer Butcher, Amy Carty, Jennifer Cox, Keith Crabtree, Cortney Evans, Jana Franks, Jessica Guthrie and Lexie Hall.

Scholarship
Jay County Hospital is accepting applications for the Sharon Tobe Memorial Nursing Scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded to a student accepted and enrolled in a nursing program.
Students’ grade point average, scholastic achievement and extra-curricular activities will be considered.
Applications are available at the Jay County Hospital Foundation office or the John Jay Center or they can be downloaded at www.jaycountyhospital.com.
Special
Jay County Public Library will have an after school special on Friday from 2:45 to 4 p.m. for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. There will be snacks, crafts and fun. To register, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
Coffee with Friends will be Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the JCPL Community Room.
Inducted
Jeremy Bramlett, Louisville, Ky., was inducted into the Alpha Upsilon Lambda Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana.
Bramlett is majoring in counseling. He is the son of the late Jerry Bramlett of Dunkirk and Susan Sneed of Jeffersonville.
Serving
Capt. David Johnston, DVM, is serving as a veterinarian with the United States Army in Seoul, Korea. Cards and letters can be sent to David Johnston, DVM, 106th MED DET (VSS), Unit 15252 Box 31, APO AP 96205. David is the son of Richard and Patty Johnston of Portland.
