Long appearing on 'Top Model' (03/03/2009)

Taking Note

The daughter of a local school official will be appearing on television as a contestant on America's Next Top Model.

Kathryn "Katy" Long, 18, the daughter of Jay School Corporation Superintendent Tim Long and his wife Nancy, will appear in the season premiere on Wednesday. The show begins at 8 p.m. on The CW.

Long found out online there would be a casting call for the show in Fort Wayne and there she qualified in the top ten, then advanced to Chicago, where she was selected for the television show.

The show was filmed in Las Vegas, where Long participated in a Roman themed photo shoot at Ceasar's Palace.

A portion of Long's interview with Tyra Banks of America's Next Top Model is available for viewing on youtube.com. Of her experience, she said, "I'm definitely glad that I went, I learned a lot."

Long plans on contacting modeling agencies, since she has had exposure on America's Next Top Model, to ask if she can meet with them. If nothing happens with modeling in the next few months, she said she plans to attend college to become a physical therapist.

She is a senior at Monroe Central High School and resides in Farmland.
