Solar plant
Celina city officials are planning to purchase 50 acres of land west of the town for a proposed solar energy plant and wastewater facility.
The land, located on Meyer Road south of Ohio 29, was annexed into the city limits 10 years ago. The city has until April 1 to purchase the 50 acres for $600,000.
Solar Vision LLC, Westerville, Ohio, is planning to lease the northern 25 acres of the land to construct an $18 million solar plant and would pay a one-time payment of $600,000 for a 20-year lease.
The other 25 acres will be used for sludge ponds for the city’s wastewater facility.
The city would be responsible for $12,800 in closing costs in the deal and would also have to fund about $150,000 to install pipe to pump sludge from the wastewater plant to the new retention ponds at the site.
