Taking Note
Alex Loucks, a student at Wabash College, recently attended the Horizons Sophomore Leadership Institute, a leadership program specifically created for Sigma Chi underclassmen who want to improve themselves and the world.
Horizons, which was launched in 1999 and headquartered in Evanston, Ill., is a six-day interactive learning experience. Each year, undergraduates with two or more years of study remaining, apply for the opportunity to attend one of the three sessions.
Only 144 of the more than 300 applicants can be chosen for the program which is held in the mountains of Snowbird, Utah.

Participates in workshop
Mavis Catalfio (center for technology and learning/Jay School Corporation), participated in "Extending Teacher Creativity: A Summer Workshop in Integration, Collaboration and Technology" on the campus of Indiana State University. Funding for the workshop was provided by Lilly Endowment.
The workshop focused on curriculum integration and professional collaboration.
The program was developed in 1987 as an opportunity for Indiana public school teachers to design creative projects for personal and professional renewal.
On display
"Travel Indiana," a photography exhibition including images and essays by winners of the Indiana Historical Society's 2006 photography contest, will be on display at Bearcreek Farms from Aug. 18 through Sept. 1.
Visitors can enjoy images highlighting the distinct character of Indiana's communities and people. In addition to the photographs there are brief stories, written by the individual photographers, which document the nature of each photograph's region.
A reproduced sampling of the winning photos and honorable mention photos - 27 in all - are traveling to several Indiana locations through Nov. 3.
As a complement to the exhibit, the Indiana Historical Society Press has released "My Indiana: 101 Places to See" authored by Ball State University College of Communications, Information and Media dean emeritus, Earl Conn.
Included in the book is the Museum of the Soldier in Portland.[[In-content Ad]]
