Lyons to speak about wind energy (08/29/2008)
Business roundup
The Geneva Chamber of Commerce will be starting its lunch series again with a presentation on wind energy.
Bob Lyons, a Jay County resident who has been involved with possible plans for a wind farm in the county, will speak to lunch guests at the meeting at noon, Tuesday, Sept. 9.
The event will take place at the Geneva Community Room, 411 E. Line St., Geneva. Lunch will cost $6 and is payable at the door. Please make reservations by calling (260) 368-7251.
Comcast cap
Comacast Corp. has announced it will cap personal download limits for users.
The cable company, which provides high-speed internet service to the area, announced it will shut off uses at a cap of 250 gigabytes of traffic per month.
Comcast said it would shut off users exceeding the limit and contact them asking to curb their usage.
To put the figure in perspective, 250 gigabytes of data would equate out to about 173.6 days of music.
Development trip
A Muncie executive was chosen as part of a team representing Indiana at a business development trip to Chicago.
E. Roy Budd, executive director of Engergize-ECI Inc., will be among Indiana development heads heading to meet more than 40 companies considering growing into Indiana.
Energize-ECI is a company encouraging businesses to locate in East Central Indiana. Budd will head to the conference as a representative for area interests.
Lowers target
Toyota, a major competitor of FCC (Indiana) customer Honda of America, lowered its global sales target for 2009 by 700,000 vehicles to 9.7 million Thursday, showing that even one of the world's most durable automakers is being hurt by rising material costs, a slowing U.S. market and soaring gas prices.
Toyota Motor Corp had previously set a 2009 global sales goal of 10.4 million vehicles.[[In-content Ad]]
