Mann recognized for heroism

Heroism
Three Muncie firefighters, including a Portland man, were recognized for their act of heroism.
Shane Mann was honored with a Muncie City Council Good Citizenship award. The three men dove into Fudd’s Lake on April 9 to rescue a drowning victim from a submerged car. None of them were wearing diving equipment.

To attend conference
A Pennville resident has been selected to participate in the National Student Leadership Conference on Medicine and Health Care at Northwestern University.
Noah Claycomb will attend the conference this summer that will offer workshops and classes designed to develop the skills and traits that define a leader. Leading professionals and professors from top colleges facilitate the programs and engage the students in hands-on activities.

Library programs
The book group will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at Jay County Public Library. They will discuss the book “Ellis Island” by Kate Kerrigan.
The crochet club, for beginners and experts, will meet Tuesday between 5 and 7 p.m. at JCPL. Bring your own supplies.[[In-content Ad]]
