Many donate to cancer society (02/07/06)

The Jay County Cancer Society has released the following report for the last quarter of 2005.

Making monetary donations in October in memory of Ruth Irene Wiley were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Finch, Neil and Judy Toms-Medler, Pat Gibson, Rod Puterbaugh, Rosemary Puterbaugh, Mark, Lisa, and Amanda Barnett, and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Bickel. In memory of Randy Monroe was Dr. and Mrs. David Fullenkamp.

Making donations in memory of Mike Wise were A.J. and Phyllis Dornberger, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Johnson, J.B. and Judy Faulkner, Candace Hatzell, Bruce Ridgway, Steve and Rhonda Hatch, and Delta Theta Tau Zeta Chi Chapter, Dunkirk.

In memory of Herbert Lewis were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Landess and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Heckman and family, Mr. and Mrs. Brad Sodders and family, Max and Bernice McClurg, and Nilah Flesher and family. In memory of Thomas Green were Jim Jenkins and Cindy Shaffer, the CA employment staff.

In memory of Lois Councilman was Gladys Hardy, and in memory of Jackie Spaulding were Bill and Mary Davis.

There were gifts from Fairview United Methodist Church and from Julie Myron.

November included donations in memory of Lois DePoy from Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hiatt; for Gordon and Catherine Meeker from Dick, Mary, Michelle, and Andrew Meeker; and for Kevin Hart were David and Meranda Teeter, Tim High, Leona and family, John and Janie Meehan, Gaynell Lee and family, Barb Steed, Arlean Nibarger, and Dudley and Ruth Lee. Gifts were from United Way of Delaware County and from Pizza Hut.

In December donations were made in memory of Kevin Hart by Carolyn Hosier; Alice Shoemaker by Bill and Pauline Gettinger, Judy Smith, and Bill and Nancy Stults; Julia McCoy from the Wright family, C. and Donna Lee, John Moore, Brenda Stephens, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Acker, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hopkins, Larry Moore, and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Moore.

In memory of David Claytor were Joe and Anita Hall, Eddie Lee and Jane Bailey; and for Linda Landfair, Jeff Garr, and Linda Landfair from Mr. and Mrs. David Littler.

Gifts were received from Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Clutter, WalMart, the ornament auction, Women’s Life Insurance; and Linda Stewart.

Life skill winners

Bloomfield Elementary School recently announced its life skill winners for January. Chosen for the like skill “problem solving” were Jennifer Braun, Cadence Bridges, Kaitlyn Epler, Andrew Ferguson, Jonas Graber, Jonathan Graber, Nathan Heitkamp, Brett Laux, Caitlyn Mark, Betsy Muhlenkamp, Kylie Osborne, Andrew Rockwell, Josh Wellman and Michelle Wellman.

Art classes

Arts Place in Portland is currently accepting applications for art classes for students and adults. Classes are available in ceramics, portfolio and after school arts programs with Zach Medler.

Painting donated

Fort Recovery artist Phil Wood recently donated a painting of an American Indian to Fort Recovery Elementary/Middle School Media Center. The painting is of a Miami/Shawnee warrior who fought in Fort Recovery in the 1700’s.

Wood painted the Fort Recovery Indian and the lettering on the wall behind the basket in the Fort Recovery High School gym in the early 1980’s and painted a smiling Indian in the elementary/middle school gym in 1999.[[In-content Ad]]
