March events to take place at Jay Library
Taking Note
Jay County Public Library will have story times on Monday, March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, March 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 1 p.m.

An after school special will be held on Friday, March 5, from 2:45 to 4 p.m. for children in kindergarten through third grade.
There will be refreshments, a story and a lucky craft or two to complete. Call the library on or before March 4 to make a rerservation.

Details about the reading program "Mad about the Library in March" will be available March 1.

Two genealogy classes will be available at the library on March 13.
Basic Genealogy will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. The basics of how to use genealogy materials in the Indiana Room will be shown.
Genealogy on the Internet will be held from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
Participants must have experience or have taken the classes "Introduction to the Internet" and "Basic Genealogy." Participants will become familiar with Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest.

"The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold will be discussed at the Book Reading Group on Monday, March 15, at 7 p.m. at the library. New members are always welcome.

The next meeting of Friends of the Library will meet Tuesday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m.
Friends sponsor the "1000 Books Before Kindergarten" program, first book for newborns "Catch 'em in the Cradle," book scholarships for graduating library pages, author programs and they assist the library with funds for special needs.
Anyone interested in joining Friends of the Jay County Public Library can stop by the library at 315 N. Ship St. in Portland Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
LifeStream Day
LifeStream Day will be held Thursday, March 4, at the Jay County Office, 430 W. Lafayette St. in Portland.
Refreshments will be served from noon until 2 p.m. and there will be door prizes given.
