CELINA, Ohio — The Geneva Cardinals dropped to 2-11 Monday with a 4-0 loss to the Grand Lake Mariners. Geneva lost its first game this season against the Mariners by the same score.

Grand Lake took control of the game thanks to some shaky sixth-inning defense by the Cardinals, scoring three runs. Bryan Rumple was the tough-luck loser, allowing just one run in seven innings while striking out six batters.

Danner Partridge had a pair of hits for Geneva, which had just three overall on the night. He also scole a couple of bases.

Troy Hirschy had the other hit for the Cardinals, an infield single.

Hoop results released

PORTLAND — Community and Family Services held its 2005 Hoosier Hoopfest 2-on-2 basketball tournament at Weiler-Wilson Park Saturday.

Brock McFarland and Kegan Comer, both of Portland, took the title in the 10-and-younger division. Winning in the 11-13-year-old division were Brendon Reed, Portland, and Jeremy Reed, Lapel.

The 14-16-year-old champs were Abby Loy, Portland, and Brittany O’Dell, Pennville. Phillip Hines and Kevin Robinson, both of Eaton, won in the 16-19-year-old division.

Adult champs were Tony Overton and Dustin Overton and Donnie Schlosser and Doug Jackson, all of Portland.

Ingle wins first

FORT RECOVERY — Ingle Realty took the early lead in the 2005 Go-Kart Grand Prix Series with its victory at the Fort Recovery Jubilee Friday night.

Ingle finished first in the feature race of the first leg of the series, which continues at the Vintage Motor Bike Show July 13. LCS, Inc. finished second at the Jubilee, and Cooper Farms/Buckeye Design and Engineering was third.[[In-content Ad]]
