McAfee's to mark 50th

Dr. and Mrs. Glade A. McAfee, Portland, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this week.

Joyce Wilson and Glade McAfee were married on Dec. 6, 1953 at First Methodist Church, Bluffton, with the Rev. E. Ernest Kaufman performing the ceremony.

A U.S. Coast Guard veteran, Glade McAfee received his doctor of optometry degree from Northern Illinois College. He retired this year after 51 years both in private practice and as an affiliate of the Portland Eye Center.

Mrs. McAfee retired from Caylor-Nickel Clinic, Bluffton, as a certified registered nurse anesthetist.

Residents of Jay County for 44 years, Dr. and Mrs. McAfee are the parents of Mrs. Bruce (Shawna) Mayberry, Arlington, Texas, and Julie A. Myron, Portland. They have five grandcihldren.

They will be celebrating their anniversary with the Asbury United Methodist Church Homemakers’ Class and with a family gathering hosted by their daughters later this month.
