McMillan leads East Jay track (04/26/07)

Getting three wins a meet from Jordan McMillan is making life fairly easy for the Chiefs.

McMillan posted three individual victories Tuesday and added a relay win for the East Jay girls as she led a 69-31 victory over the Delta Eagles. Garrett Krieg had a couple of wins for the boys team, which lost 64-36.

Two of McMillan's wins came in field events. She won by nearly eight inches in the long jump at 13 feet, 9 inches, and easily took the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches. She was also first in the 200-meter dash in 29.21 seconds, and teamed with Laura Castillo, Ranae Ray and Katie Snyder to win the 4x100 relay in 56 seconds.

Krieg matched McMillan with a long jump win at 16 feet, 33/4 inches. He took first in the 100 dash as well in 13.35, and led the winning 4x100 relay team.

Adding individual wins were Ray (hurdles - 19.49), Castillo (100 dash - 14.42), Leah Wellman (1,600 run - 6-minutes, 17 seconds), Katie Butcher (800 run - 2:51) and Mollie May (shot put - 27 feet, 11 inches). Ben Aich (hurdles (19.98) and Joe Imel (200 dash - 27.36) picked up victories for the boys team.

East Jay's girls B team won 58-41 behind shot put and discus victories by Abby Denney. The boys B team fell, 52-47.

Kahlig leads Indians

FORT RECOVERY - Kylie Kahlig won three events Tuesday as the Fort Recovery girls finished second hosting three-team action Tuesday.

The Indian girls scored 60 points to finish behind Marion Local (78.5) and ahead of Bradford (14.5). The Tribe boys were second with 48 while Marion Local (90) won and Bradford (15) was third.

Kahlig had to share one of her victories as she and Alyssa Winner of Marion Local posted identical times of 29.30 in the 200-meter dash. She cruised to a win in the 400 dash in 1-minute, 6.1 seconds, and won the shot put at 30 feet, 61/2 inches.

Other wins for the Tribe girls came from Brunswicks - Holly in the 100 hurdles (17.7) and high jump (4 feet, 6 inches), and Marissa in the 100 dash (14.1).

Ryan Heitkamp and Aaron Vagedes each led one-two finishes for the Tribe boys. Heitkamp won the 1,600 run in 5:46.30 with Derek Sutter second, and Vagedes was first in the 400 dash at 1:02.7 with Alan Vogel second. Adam Rohrer took the top spot in the shot put at 37 feet, 6 inches.

Cash wins a pair

DUNKIRK - Zach Cash was the only double winner Tuesday for West Jay as both the boys and girls teams lost to Selma. The boys fell 64-37, while the girls suffered a 72-29 defeat.

Cash crossed the finish line first in both the 110-meter hurdles in 19.18 seconds and the 400 dash in 1-minute, 2 seconds. He also contributed to a win in the 4x100 relay as he joined Blake Crouch, Anthony Skeens and Dylan Huey for a time of 54.45 seconds.

Megan Roush won the 100 hurdles for the Eagle girls in 19.94. Megan Price took the 1,600 run at 6:54, and Hayley Knight tossed 63 feet, 7 inches to win the discus.

Skeens, Crouch, Huey and Wesley Price were first in the 4x400 relay at 4:39 for the boys team.[[In-content Ad]]
