Meet new director of John Jay

A reception will be held for Rusty Inman, the new executive director of John Jay Center for Learning in Portland.
The reception will be Wednesday, June 19, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in the JJCL cafe.

Free movie
Two showings of Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted will be held Wednesday at the Ritz Theatre in Portland.
Showings will be at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The movie is  rated PG.

Graduation
A graduation ceremony for G.E.D. students will be held Thursday, June 20, at 7 p.m. at John Jay Center for Learning. A reception will follow in the JJCL cafe.
Summer orientation for G.E.D. online classes will be held Tuesday, July 9, at 4 p.m. in the lobby of the John Jay Center.

Jay County High School graduate Jill Dirksen was awarded a Harvest Land Co-op scholarship.

Graduates
Chancellor Milligan graduated from Earlham College with a bachelor’s degree in human development and social relations. He is the son of Angela Davidson and David Milligan, Portland.
Briana Louth, Portland, graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Master of Science degree.

Dean’s list
Derek Smith, a graduate of Jay County High School and Ball State University, was named to the dean’s list at Palmer’s Chiropractic School in Daytona Beach, Fla. He is the son of Joe R. and Cathy Smith, Portland.
Andrew Fuksa, Portland, was named to the dean’s list at Trine University in Angola. He is a senior majoring in mechanical engineering.[[In-content Ad]]
