Memorial drive scheduled

Taking note

The American Red Cross will have a blood drive in memory of Zack Hummer and Rod Sherley on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 216 W. Pleasant St. in Dunkirk.
Zack, a Dunkirk resident, died in an automobile accident and Rod, formerly of Dunkirk, died from leukemia. During his treatments, Rod received blood transfustions almost daily.
Their families are encouraging the community to donate blood in honor of their memory.
Donors must be 17 years old (or 16 with parental permission), weigh at least 110 pounds depending on height and be in general good health. A Red Cross blood donor card or another form of identification is required.

Crochet club

The Crochet Club will meet Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Jay County Public Library. Beginners and experts may come to the library anytime between 5 and 7:30 p.m. Bring your own supplies.

Dean’s list
The following area students were recently named to the dean’s list for the fall quarter at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute.
Jacob Schmidt, a senior, who is majoring in computer science. He is the son of Gary and Diane Schmidt of Portland.
Clayton Eley, a senior, who is majoring in mechanical engineering. He is the son of Todd Eley and Paul Miller, both of Portland.[[In-content Ad]]
