Mercer County rate second-lowest in state
Business Roundup
Mercer County boasted the second lowest unemployment rate in Ohio in March.
Mercer tied with Holmes County at 6.4 percent, well below the state average of 8.8 percent. The No. 1 spot was claimed by Delaware County with 6.2 percent.
Mercer County has held the lowest rate in the state in the past and is the state’s No. 1 county in terms of agricultural output.
Domino’s closes
Domino’s Pizza, Portland, is closed after the company terminated a contract with independent franchiser KB Pizza, which operated the location.
Portland’s Domino’s was one of 22 locations closed after the contract termination with KB Pizza. Sixteen of those stores have been reopened under a temporary agreement with another franchisee, although the Portland branch is not one of them.
The closing is the third pizza branch to close in that particular location, with Papa John’s and Little Ceasar’s pizzerias coming before Domino’s.
Joins hospice
Four Indiana residents, including three from Jay County, joined the staff for State of the Heart Hospice.
Patti Waters, Portland; Debra Tipton, Portland; Kristy K. Quakenbush, Redkey; and Robin Cook, Winchester, joined the not-for-profit group which provided hospice care for families in eastern Indiana and western Ohio.
Waters, a registered nurse, will serve as an on-call nurse in the Portland office. Tipton, who previously served as executive director of Crown Pointe in Portland, will take on the role of patient care liaison. Quakenbush will serve as medical secretary in the Portland office.
Settlement
The state will get $858,000 from CVS Pharmacy Inc. to settle allegations that the company overcharged Medicaid programs
The amount represents Indiana’s share of a $17.5 million settlement reached last week with 10 states and the federal government.
The Justice Department says the settlement resulted from an investigation into claims CVS collected more than it should have from Medicaid for filling prescriptions for people who have other insurance as well. Typically, pharmacies can only bill Medicaid for the amount of a patient’s co-payment in those situations.
Zoeller said Thursday the total state settlement paid to the Indiana Medicaid program will be $858,176, including $572,117 for the state’s share of Medicaid restitution and $286,058 for additional recoveries.

Gearbox manufacturer Brevini tempered hiring expectations for its Muncie location when speaking with Delaware County officials this week.
The company originally claimed it would add 450 jobs, but now said 200 is its goal by 2012, although it still wants to hit the 450 level.
The weak economy has caused setbacks with the company’s plans. It originally promised more than 450 jobs by 2011. That number was delayed to be 450 by the end of 2012 before being trimmed back further.
Brevini currently employs about 60 people.
